Big names on small segment

It seems to be really weird in the Indian automotive segment as the big guns of Indian automotive industry, Mahindra and Tata motors are very much into the small segment. in fact, they are competing each other in launching brand new models of utility vehicles.

It was Tata, who started the fray with the launch of their mini truck named ace. Soon after they laucnhed  its passenger version named Ace Magic. It was expected to tackle the tricks by Piaggio their ‘ape’.

But everything changed with the launch of Gio as Mahindra & Mahindra also joined the battle for the small segment. Thereafter it was just like a procession of launches. they counter attacked ace with the launch of Maxximo truck and soon after that they laucnhed a passenger version for that nbamed, Maxximo mini van.

Mahindra also launched their rickshaw look alike version on gio with a six seater passenger cab named Gio Compact Cab, which priced below an Bajaj Diesel rickshaw. Tata, to counter the Maxximo mini van, another cobact van is all set to launch, called Iris.

Maxximo mini van  is very much advanced when compared to Magic, with its body, economy, style etc. Comparing with Ace, it has got very good pulling power and a very good engine, which is of CRDi. Winger from Tata is also yet another model that added to the small class utility segment. So it is clear that, the big guns like Tata and Mahindra are now aiming the middle class families , who are the 605 of the total Indian population.

Tata surprised the world two years back with its world’s cheapest car, Nano which is a favorite now days after its initial back fires.
